The Premier League is watched by many worldwide, and one of those viewers last night was tennis legend Boris Becker, who took in the drama at Elland Road between Leeds United and Liverpool.

Daniel Farke continued to strengthen his job security after a superb comeback against Man City and then a stunning win against Chelsea in the week. He watched Leeds come from behind to draw with Liverpool.

Who was YOUR Leeds United Man of the Match against Liverpool?

Going into the break at 0-0, Leeds went 2-0 down in the first five minutes of the second half. But they came roaring back through a Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty and a brilliant Anton Stach equaliser.

Liverpool went ahead again, only for Ao Tanaka to score a 96th-minute goal to secure a point. Many felt Stach was the best Leeds player on the pitch, and Boris Becker was hugely impressed by the German.

Boris Becker urges Julian Nagelsmann to consider Anton Stach

Going into the week ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool, Stach had just two goals and assists this season. But he got an assist for Jaka Bijol’s first Leeds goal against Chelsea, and scored on Saturday against Liverpool.

It was Stach’s corner that caused panic in the Liverpool box before Tanaka slammed home Leeds’ third. It is a World Cup year and Stach will be dreaming of a surprise late Germany call-up ahead of next summer.

Well, he has the backing of tennis legend Becker. On X, the Wimbledon champion urged Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann to consider calling Stach up, who already has two Germany caps to his name this term.

Boris Becker wants Anton Stach for Germany! Has he done enough? 🔮

Stach has added a goal and an assist in his last two games

Becker’s post on X is translated as: “Just watched Liverpool against Leeds. Leeds have a young German playing for them, Anton Stach. Has Julian Nagelsmann ever scouted him, or even got him on the list?

Florian Plettenberg responds to Becker on Leeds’ Anton Stach

If Stach is to tempt Nagelsmann, he’s got to do it quickly. The one benefit might be that Leeds will still be playing while the Bundesliga has a winter break, among other top-tier leagues in European football.

Stach has spoken about his hopes to be considered for the World Cup, but having been overlooked in the last three international breaks, it feels unlikely. Sky’s Florian Plettenburg responded to Becker’s post on X.

“Nagelsmann said recently at a press conference, more or less (it was in Belfast, I think): he is an 8. He currently sees no need for that position,” Plettenburg said on X, in reply to Becker’s post about Stach.

But Nagelsmann will be very aware that Stach has just produced two sparkling performances against Chelsea and Liverpool, and it will certainly be keeping an eye on him ahead of the March break.
