Max McFadden has posted on Instagram to share his delight at winning professional terms at Leeds United after the club confirmed he had signed a contract until the summer of 2024 – following an impressive 2022-23 campaign.
McFadden’s new deal was the first bit of player news to come out of Leeds following the hiring of Daniel Farke as manager on Tuesday evening. Farke worked with the Leeds players on Wednesday, and then again on Thursday.
He might not have actually had much to do with the offer of professional terms to McFadden given he has been working with the senior side. But, McFadden has penned a professional deal for the next 12 months at Elland Road.
It comes after an impressive year. Starting with the 18’s after joining the club from Colchester United last summer, McFadden had a hand in 11 goals during 23 games – scoring four, creating seven. It saw him move up to the 21’s.
He played three times in a row for the second string in January. He started in a 1-0 loss against Forest, coming on as a sub against West Brom and started again against Norwich. Now, he has signed terms and posted on Instagram.

McFadden certainly deserved the new deal, given his form for the 18’s. He is likely to make the step up to the 21’s this season, even after promotion from the second tier of PL2 – back to the top flight. McFadden is still only 17.
Does he have a shot at breaking into the senior side? At this stage, his focus will be on becoming a key member of the 21’s. Then, perhaps a loan away from the club. But for now, delight for McFadden and rightly so. He earned it.
