Luke Williams has endured a very difficult start to life at Swansea City and he spoke after watching his side lose 4-0 to Leeds United on Tuesday night – delivering his verdict on Daniel Farke’s men.
Swansea came into the game having beaten Hull away from home on Saturday – but it came after four straight defeats in which Swansea had conceded 14 goals. Five against Bournemouth in The FA Cup.
A deflected Cree Summerville goal got Leeds on their way, before Joel Piroe got his 11th of the season – scoring against his old side, coming into the starting XI after Patrick Bamford pulled up in the warm up.
Then, a brace from the excellent Willy Gnonto – scoring a goal with both feet. Swansea were beaten inside the first 10 minutes as Leeds cruised to another win. Williams has five losses in his eight games.
Speaking to Swansea’s website after the match, Williams delivered his verdict about Leeds and said his side need to be a whole lot “braver” to be able to deal with sides like Leeds United, going into the future.
“We got blown away. I know they’re a top side, but we have to learn to play football at a higher intensity. If we don’t learn to play football like that, you can’t play against the top teams or even be in the game.
“Too much hesitation, too scared to fully commit to the press. But if you stand off good players they’re going to pick you off. We have to play with a higher level of intensity and concentration, and be braver.”

Swansea were as bad as Leeds were good. A shame to see such a good footballing side struggle this season, because on their day, they are a proper side playing attractive football. But huge for Leeds.
Another must-win game, won. Southampton’s defeat to Bristol City makes the win over Swansea all the more sweeter – but there is a long way to go. Leeds still have 15 Championship matches left to play.
