Brentford defender Ben Mee has told Sky Sports that “stranger things have happened” when asked if Leeds United could sack Javi Gracia – after the Spaniard watched his side lose 6-1 to Liverpool, after losing 5-1 to Crystal Palace.

Leeds were woeful on Monday night and while it was against Liverpool, it was a missed opportunity. All four clubs beneath Leeds suffered defeat over the weekend – including a Dan James goal against Everton as Fulham won 3-1.

Gracia has secured a solid 10 points from a possible 24 since his arrival in the Premier League. It comes after Leeds went winless for 10 games. So, there are positives from his short spell in charge – but two massive losses in a row.

Brentford defender Mee joined Jamie Carragher and Dave Jones on Monday Night Football. He was asked if he felt Leeds could rid themselves of Gracia – and he said while he would be surprised, stranger things have happened.

“[Changing a manager] doesn’t always work. That’s the chances these owners take. There’s been a few changes this season, some work some don’t. I’d be surprised if something changes here but stranger things have happened.”

Mee says stranger things have happened on if Leeds could sack Gracia

It would be a shock. Putting aside the two heavy defeats and the way in which they were lost, Leeds have picked up 10 points from the eight league games under Gracia. Liverpool was always going to be tough – Palace, an anomaly.

But Leeds need to put it right and avoiding defeat at Fulham would be a good start. That is a tough ask off the back of two massive losses. Next Tuesday, comes the pressure chamber of a match – a home game against Leicester.

Four points from the next two games would right the wrongs that Leeds have suffered in the last two matches. But, that is a big ask to pick these players up after 11 conceded in two games. If Leeds are to stay up, it has to happen.
