Stoke boss says what he’s noticed about Leeds recently that gives his side a chance on Tuesday

Stoke City manager Steven Schumacher will take his side to Leeds United on Tuesday night full of confidence after a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on the weekend – and he is optimistic of a result.

Stoke sit in 22nd place in the Championship table and the odds will be stacked against the Whites as Leeds welcome the Potters to Elland Road. Leeds are unbeaten at home this season, under Daniel Farke.

Leeds had won nine in a row going into last week, but lost in The FA Cup at Chelsea – albeit, impressing against Mauricio Pochettino’s side and losing 3-2. Then, we failed to beat Huddersfield on the weekend.

So, there might be a few nerves come Tuesday night with every game crucial between now and the end of the season. Leeds need three points, but so do Schumacher’s side, who sit way down in 22nd place.

Schumacher spoke in his press conference – as per the Stoke Sentinel – ahead of Tuesday night’s game. He says that Huddersfield on Saturday will give his side confidence – saying Leeds are not “unbeatable”.

“As Huddersfield showed, if you get the game plan right, if you get the attitude right to go and compete with Leeds and stand toe-to-toe with them, you’ve got a chance of getting a result,” Schumacher said.

“Huddersfield had 10 men for the whole of the second half and did really well so that should give us confidence. They are not unbeatable or invincible. We have to go there and be positive,” he continued.

Stoke will be up against it but with pressure on both sides going into the match, it will come down to which side can execute their game plan best – and which side can deal with the pressure on them.

Stoke desperately need results to pull themselves out of the relegation mire and a win over Michael Carrick’s struggling Middlesbrough side will give them confidence ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Leeds.

Huddersfield played Leeds well, but Leeds fell into the trap, too. Indeed, Leeds should have still won the game and had plenty of chances to score more than just Patrick Bamford’s seventh goal of the season.
