Ryan Kent has been strongly linked with a move to Leeds United over the last few years but it looks as though he will be moving away from European football – with Steven Gerrard set to strike a deal.
Kent ended a five-year stint at Ibrox last summer to join Fenerbahce, but it is a move that simply has not worked. Kent, 27, has started just eight of a possible 32 games in league and cup for club Fenerbahce.
Just one start in the SuperLig, quite remarkable given how good he had been in Scotland. A player that was renowned for being an assist machine, winning the Premiership unbeaten. A Europa League final.
His disappointing spell in Turkey saw Leeds linked again – along with Bournemouth and former side Rangers this month. Since then, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest are also said to have looked.
Reports last week said that Kent, who was rated at £6m, had handed in a transfer request at Fener and now, Gerrard is set to form a reunion. That is according to a report from Turkish outlet Aksam this week.

It comes after reports last week that Gerrard wanted Kent. Now, Aksam say Gerrard is ‘close’ to signing Kent – the latest in a long line of recognisable names he’s taken to Saudi Arabia with club Al-Ettifaq.
The likes of Jordan Henderson, Moussa Dembele, Gini Wijnaldum, Jack Hendry and Demarai Gray have all gone to Gerrard’s side under his stewardship. Kent is set to join them, with a £3.5m bid on the table.
The winger is closing in on a move to Saudi Arabia and thus ending any chance of Leeds landing him. Perhaps, there is a chance of a move in the future but right now, Kent is on his way to the Middle East.
