Michael Bridges has shared what striker Georginio Rutter told him before Leeds United’s 3-1 win over Swansea City on Wednesday night, with Rutter netting his fourth goal for Daniel Farke’s side.
Rutter starred for Leeds again, last night. A goal and an assist, taking his tally to 11 involvements in the Championship for the Whites. His goal was truly remarkable, a first touch that was almost heavenly.
It came after Joel Piroe had cancelled out Jamie Paterson’s opener on four minutes, before Rutter struck before half time. Dan James made it three in the second 45, joining Piroe in scoring against his old side.
Prior to Wednesday night’s clash, Rutter had not scored at Elland Road since joining the club for a club-record fee. But he had still had a hand in 10 goals this season, scoring three and creating seven assists.
But then, he latched on to Ethan Ampadu’s pass before scoring superbly. Ex-Leeds man Bridges said he spoke to Rutter earlier in the week – before kick-off – and said Rutter was desperate to score at home.
“He’s playing with a smile on his face. He hasn’t got one at Elland Road yet, I spoke to him in the week – he said he is desperate to get a goal at Elland Road, a Christmas gift,” Bridges told the pre-match show.
“His performances alongside Piroe, the balance they’ve got is brilliant. We are judged as strikers, I said this to him the other day, we’re judged on goals. But his assists, he’s been magnificent,” Bridges added.

Another spectacular display from the Frenchman, also nabbing an assist. The Frenchman is scoring goals and creating them on a regular basis. Our biggest attacking weapon as we push for promotion.
He is clearly a player of Premier League talent. A player that is easily good enough to play for a side that are competing in Europe. With his confidence installed, Rutter has what it takes to shine in the top tier.
