Dominic Matteo has previewed Leeds United’s trip to Plymouth Argyle which gets underway at lunchtime.
The Whites will be looking to make it eight wins in a row since the turn of the New Year in what is the third meeting with Plymouth in three weeks, having also faced them in the FA Cup.
Matteo was asked about the form of one of Leeds’ attacking stars Georginio Rutter, who while not scoring goals on a regular basis, has been superb under Daniel Farke.
Rutter has just been so impressive with his ball-carrying and creativity this season, having already amassed 10 assists. Only Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu has made more big chances.
Speaking to LUTV ahead of today’s game at Home Park, Matteo says he has been left so impressed with his passing ability, as well as his link-up play with Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto.
Matteo hails Rutter passing ability
He said: “He’s just on it and wants to get on the ball all the time. When you’ve got a player who wants to get on that ball and create for others, we know he hasn’t got the numbers in goals, but who cares? He’s creating so much and will chip in with a few more before the end of the season.
“His overall performance and distribution with his passing, weight of pass at times when he’s feeding it into Gnonto and Summerville, it takes a top player to do that. I have been so impressed with him and his attitude.”

Rutter will undoubtedly be frustrated with his lack of goals this season but he more than makes up for it with almost every other aspect of his game, none more so than his chance creation.
Championship defences are just simply unable to handle his dribbling or passing when he is at his best and without him Leeds’ attack would be no where near as functional.
It has been fantastic to see his improvement on the pitch after such a difficult first few months at Leeds and hopefully he will be showcasing his class in the Premier League next season.
