Junior Firpo says the injury that ruled him out for pre-season and the beginning of this season has been “the hardest” he has endured throughout his career – with the Leeds United player now back.
Firpo, 27, only recovered from his injury ahead of the game against Leicester – where he returned to the bench but remained an unused sub. Against Plymouth, he came on with more than 30 minutes to play.
Sam Byram picked up a hamstring injury and the 30-year-old is back in training but the chances are that Firpo will start against Rotherham on Friday night. Firpo picked up an LCL injury, against Tottenham.
Then, when returning from the knee issue, he picked up a hamstring injury in training. Speaking to the latest Leeds United podcast, Firpo says that it was the hardest injury of his life – missing pre-season.

“The last one for me, was the hardest of my life. I’ve had quite a few injuries but the last one was the hardest. I was out for 8-10 weeks, lcl injury. Came back first day, opened my legs, broke my hamstring.
“You can’t play football any more, what can I do? Missing the pre-season is so bad. Coming back a month ago, the rest of the team are flying, top of the hill. It takes time,” Firpo told the Leeds podcast.
Leeds’ player Junior Firpo says latest injury hardest of his career
You would imagine that in the Championship, with Leeds playing attacking football under Daniel Farke, Firpo will thrive. It might give him the platform to get back to his best form – even if, he needs minutes.
He needs game time to get back to his best – his best being, something Leeds fans are yet to see. Of course, Firpo has struggled since joining Leeds from Barcelona in 2021. Hopefully, he can shine for us.
