Sky Sports News have issued a new update regarding the possible 49ers takeover of Leeds United from Andrea Radrizzani and they claim a deal “hangs in the balance” while Radrizzani decides whether to sell the club, or not.
Radrizzani remains the major shareholder of Leeds with a 56% stake in the club. The 49ers, meanwhile, have a 44% stake. Survival in the Premier League meant a deal would be done, an agreement made. Leeds have been relegated.
So, what next? Radrizzani may decide to sell the remaining stake, but he will have to agree a much smaller price than the previously agreed fee given Leeds are now a Championship club. It may see him remain at Elland Road.
Hope Leeds gain an instant return and then sell for a Premier League price. Or, maybe, keep a stake but allow the 49ers to become majority shareholders. Well, Sky Sports News have given a new update on a Leeds takeover.
“Leeds owner Radrizzani remains in negotiations over a revised deal. The 49ers still want to buy the remaining 56% stake despite the drop. But not at the previously agreed price,” Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday afternoon.

“Radrizzani is understood to have flown to USA last week to broker terms on a new deal. Two days after relegation, the long-discussed takeover is hanging in the balance with Radrizzani still deciding whether or not to go ahead.
“Sources have indicated to Sky Sports News that it is still expected to be completed. Once it has, there is a plan in place for Radrizzani to oversee a transition period into the new ownership alongside chief executive Angus Kinnear.”

Couple of things to take from this. While it does hang in the balance and nothing has seemingly been decided as of yet, the positives are that Radrizzani is still keen to sell his stake – and the 49ers are keen to purchase all 56%.
Of course, a lot could depend on whether Radrizzani can strike a deal to buy Sampdoria. He is said to be in Italy for talks today after a bid was initially rejected. The second take, is that Radrizzani will remain to oversee a transition.
That is not news Leeds fans will want to hear. But, perhaps, the 49ers would like things to be a little less chaotic when they come in. Plenty of questions but no answers from Leeds as of yet, which is seeing frustration grow.
