Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow is set to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Leeds United.

That is according to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, who reports Darlow will fly back from Newcastle’s pre-season tour of USA once an agreement is reached between the two clubs.

Leeds are now in advanced talks with the Magpies over a permanent deal for the 32-year-old to become their second signing of the summer after Ethan Ampadu’s arrival from Chelsea last week.

Bournemouth had appeared to be firm favourites in the race this time last week but as per Downie, Leeds have offered a bigger fee in order to win the race.

The Cherries have now turned their attention elsewhere, with Fabrizio Romano reporting Andrei Radu is set to join on a season-long-loan from Inter Milan.

Darlow to undergo Leeds medical soon

Darlow will add an abundance of experience between the sticks at Leeds once his arrival is officially sealed, with over 200 appearances under his belt in England’s top two divisions.

It wasn’t too long ago when Darlow was in fact number one at St. James’ Park, where a string of fine performances prompted former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray to label him as absolutely awesome.

At this stage the fee Leeds will be paying remains unclear, but a figure of around £5 million has been mentioned throughout the summer.

Darlow will undoubtedly be expecting to come in at Leeds and be number one, despite Illan Meslier still being at the club.

Meslier is expected to move on from Leeds this summer, though no bids have yet been received.
