Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed on Twitter that amid contrasting reports that Robin Koch can leave Leeds United on a free – Eintracht Frankfurt are pushing hard to sign him, and get him for absolutely nothing.
Koch, 26, is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract at Elland Road and after relegation, the Germany star is more than likely to depart. He was a regular part of the defence that shipped the most league goals last season.
Despite that, you would probably argue one of our most-consistent performers throughout 2022-23, even if that was without shining. Plenty of clubs are being linked with Koch, including 21-22 Europa League winners Frankfurt.
Recent reports have said that Koch could go on a free, before largely English-based sources dismissed that claim. But, Plettenberg reported on Saturday evening that Koch can leave for nothing – and Frankfurt are pushing hard.

It would be a wonderful move for Koch. At this stage, Koch is not going to stay at Leeds and while many will be annoyed to lose him on a free, many Leeds fans will feel that Koch should go, given the state of our 22-23 defence.
A Germany international, Koch seems himself as a possibility for the Euro 2024 squad. The best way to get himself back in the reckoning is by returning to his home country and joining a team where he is playing regular football.
The best kind of club to join would be one that has qualified for Europe, and Frankfurt have – just. Having played in the 22-23 Champions League after winning the Europa League, they finished in seventh. Conference League.
But that suits Koch. Plenty of opportunities to play football in a side that like to get the ball on the deck and enjoy possession. That will give him the perfect stage to show Germany he should be in next summer’s Euro 2024 squad.
