AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson has branded Leeds United and Sunderland target Ali Al-Hamadi a “shining light” after he scored another brace on Saturday, in a 4-2 win over Notts County.
Al-Hamadi took his tally to nine goals on Saturday as his side made it two wins from two in League Two. The star, who also scored during the break for Iraq, netted twice in the game prior to international duty.
Wimbledon took on Notts County on Saturday and Al-Hamadi was on fire, scoring another two goals as Jackson’s men cruised to a 4-2 win. His four goals in two games will have certainly caught the eye.
TeamTalk claim Leeds, Sunderland, Derby and Blackburn all want to sign Al-Hamadi. The report says he will cost north of £1.2m, if club are interested come January. He has a contract at Wimbledon until 2025.
Now, Jackson has raved about Al-Hamadi, after his brace on the weekend. He said that the Iraqi star “can go all the way” and is a shining light, after his performance against Notts County. A real talent.
“He can go all the way. He’s a top player and at this level, he’s a shining light. He’s adding goals now. We knew that they would come because of the way that he plays, the way he goes about it,” Jackson said.
“Top performance, top lad, and I love working with him. But it was a top performance amongst a top team performance. It’s not fair that we single out individuals today because that was a real group effort.”

What a talent this youngster is turning out to be. Not only does he have nine goals in 20 games for a side that have been struggling for large parts of the season, but Al-Hamadi has also laid on five assists.
If Leeds have an opportunity to bring Al-Hamadi to Elland Road, then we really should. Even if it means he overtakes another of the young attackers at Leeds – in the likes of Joe Gelhardt or Mateo Joseph.
