It was a shock when, in the final few minutes of deadline day, Leeds United announced a signing in the form of Jaidon Anthony – as Luis Sinisterra moved the other way on loan, to join AFC Bournemouth.
Leeds looked to have got the job done, concerning their efforts in keeping Sinisterra. Daniel Farke even gave a press conference on Friday, saying he was confident of keeping him. But, Sinisterra moved on.
Leeds immediately replaced him – bringing in Anthony as a replacement for the Colombian, in a sort of loan swap. A quick look at Anthony’s stats, and Leeds fans would have understood why he was signed.
But looking past the numbers – 15 goals and assists in 50 Championship matches – Leeds fans will not yet be aware of the kind of player Anthony is. Well, Scott Parker summed him up, while his boss in 2021.
Speaking to the Echo in 2021, Parker – who was recently linked with Leeds – said: “The boy produces numbers physically every single week. He works tirelessly for this team and has got big quality as well.”

Clearly, Leeds have added a very-accomplished winger that already this season – before his move to Leeds – was starting games in the Premier League under Andoni Iraola. Another, to be linked with Leeds.
Skillful, quick and with an ever-improving end product, Anthony has what it takes to be a really strong signing for Leeds. Especially, given Leeds pulled off a last-minute move for the ex-Weymouth winger.
Being able to mirror what Sinisterra might have offered would be an unfair expectation on Anthony, but, judging by Parker’s verdict on the winger – there is no reason why Anthony cannot shine for Leeds.
