Georginio Rutter was cast aside by Sam Allardyce at Leeds United after the latter’s arrival for the final four Premier League games – but he made a prediction about Rutter, and it is beginning to ring true.

Rutter joined Leeds in January but instantly struggled. Hardly surprising. A young lad, unable to speak the language, in a completely new league and joining a side that were destined for one thing; relegation.

It was never going to work. That is not on Rutter’s shoulders, but a certain Spaniard that has since left the club. With Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford’s fitness a concern, it was put to Allardyce, to use Rutter.

But instead he completely disregarded the idea of playing the French wonderkid. Instead, when asked about Rutter, he said the striker is a player for next season. Below, are the words Allardyce said exactly.

“I don’t know. I’ve not seen enough. It’s a next season scenario for him. He came in January but when you’re young and you come to the PL, you have to settle in. Next season will be the big test for him.”

Allardyce prediction about Rutter is beginning to ring true

Rutter is on fire. Four goals and assists in seven, but so much more than that, too. While Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk are providing the defensive consistency – Rutter is bringing the Leeds flair.

He is adding the creation to this Daniel Farke side. His assist against Watford was a masterpiece that deserved hanging in the Louvre. If Leeds are going to get promotion, Rutter is set to play a pivotal role.

If Rutter continues in the way he is going, then he is going to score and create double figures. Allardyce might have been harsh not to give him more of a role – but is right about him coming to life this season.
