Fabrizio Romano has suggested on Twitter that Leeds United’s move for Diogo Monteiro is now done, with the young defender set to make his Elland Road switch official on deadline day.
Monteiro’s move to Leeds has been on the cards throughout the window. The young centre-back looks set to follow in the footsteps of Willy Gnonto by making the switch from Switzerland.

Of course, Victor Orta has done some outstanding work when it comes to signing younger players over the years. So there is reason to be extremely excited about the links with the Portuguese starlet.
Leeds move for Monteiro is done
Leeds are yet to announce the move. However, it does appear to now be a matter of time, with Romano now suggesting that everything is in place.

Here is what Romano posted on Twitter on Tuesday morning…
Obviously, Monteiro is unlikely to be making his debut for Jesse Marsch’s side anytime soon. Even with Diego Llorente’s expected departure, we do still have plenty of options at centre-back.
But he is going to be one name to keep an eye on in the months ahead. Most of Leeds’ best business in recent years has involved players going into their under-21 ranks.
Monteiro now looks set to be the next to head through the door.
