Robin Koch has told German website Spox in an interview that Leeds United teammate Marc Roca is a “very ambitious” player and is “good for the team” – also underlining the fact that he can converse with the midfielder in German.
Roca, 26, has endured a bit of an up and down season so far. Starting the campaign after a very impressive pre-season, Leeds looked as if they had got themselves a bargain at just £10m. But his form died off around the Christmas period.
It even saw him dropped against Newcastle, Adam Forshaw coming in. Then, an injury that saw him missing for three games, all of which taken charge by Michael Skubala. He was back in the starting XI for the 2-2 draw with Brighton.
The Spanish midfielder joined Leeds from Bayern Munich for a fee of £10m in the summer. Spending time in Germany, he has picked up the language and Koch spoke about the left-footed star. He thinks he is an important part of the side.
“He’s a great footballer. A very ambitious guy. Marc is good for the team. He speaks German very well. When he came I told him straight away that we would keep it going. We don’t just understand each other because he speaks German.”

There is no doubt that when at his best, Roca is brilliant asset for this Leeds side. Perhaps, having only managed 24 games for Bayern over two years before joining Leeds, he is trying to find the rhythm that saw him shine at Espanyol.
But he deserved his starting spot against Brighton and gave a good showing for Javi Gracia, in his new manager’s third game in charge. It will be interesting to see what Gracia does in midfield when Leeds take on Wolves on the weekend.
