Italian outlet Calcio Web claim that Serie A side Sassuolo have agreed a move to sign Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto at the end of the season – with the wonderkid expected to leave Elland Road in the event the club go down.
Gnonto, 19, joined Leeds on deadline day last summer and has since clocked up 27 outings at senior level – having a hand in eight goals. He came off the bench in the first half on Sunday, as Leeds were beaten by West Ham United.
The Italy star has attracted plenty of attention for his performances, mostly under Jesse Marsch. His ability to go past his man – either to the byline or cutting inside and shooting. Goals and assists, and already, 10 Italy caps.
Linked with a whole host of teams around Europe, Calcio Web say Sassuolo have come to an agreement with Leeds for Gnonto. They are keen to bring in a new winger, with Italy teammate Domenico Berardi set for a move to Lazio.

The report is titled with ‘there is an agreement in Serie A’. The report then goes on to say the ‘decisive shot’ comes from Sassuolo for Gnonto, with his exit from Leeds now ‘certain’. Gnonto looks set to return to Italy, with Sassuolo.
Sassuolo agreed move to sign Leeds winger Gnonto at end of season
While it will be desperately sad to see a potential icon at Elland Road leave after just a year, it is inevitable that he will move on this summer – if the club fail to stay up next weekend. Gnonto has been a rare shining light for Leeds.
Gnonto is a player that most European clubs would be keen to sign. He could sign for a big hitter and while game time would not be much, he has the potential to grow into that level. But a mid-table side like Sassuolo lets him play.
