Uncertainty surrounding Leeds United’s ownership has not stopped them working on potential new signings and a managerial appointment.
That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who report the club’s heading of emerging talent Craig Dean and his scouting team have been analysing potential targets, while the topic of a new manager has been discussed at ‘senior level’.
Following relegation from the Premier League on Sunday, it remains unclear as to who will be Leeds‘ owner once the season restarts in August.
San Francisco 49ers Enterprises had a deal in place to take over had the club survived, but will now have to renegotiate a new deal after Leeds’ return to the Championship.
Andrea Radrizzani, meanwhile, has been in Italy over the last 10 days trying to finalise a deal for Sampdoria and is yet to comment on the events at Leeds during the last few days.
Leeds also, of course, remain without a director of football after Victor Orta’s dismissal earlier this month, with Stuart Webber, Kieran Scott and Dimitri De Conde having been linked.
Leeds pressing ahead with summer plans
It is encouraging to hear Leeds aren’t at a complete standstill despite matters currently taking place off the pitch.
That said, it is imperative Leeds’ ownership situation is clarified soon with the silence from Radrizzani is only adding to supporters’ anger.
It is impossible to recruit players for a particular style of play if there is neither a director of football or manager in place and so those two appointments must be tied up first.
Southampton are already motoring ahead in that department and Leeds cannot afford to be left behind with the Championship looking as strong as it has for a while.
If it is not already, Radrizzani is completely tarnishing the legacy he built at Leeds with the way he is handling the current situation and the sooner he is gone, the better.
