Angus Kinnear has already held talks with potential managerial candidates so that a deal can be signed off once Leeds United’s ownership situation becomes clearer.

That is according to Beren Cross at Leeds Live, who wrote in a question and answer session that San Francisco 49ers Enterprises’ takeover could trigger a domino effect at the club regarding key appointments.

Leeds are set for a hugely busy summer following relegation to the Championship with a huge overhaul of the squad set to take place on top of the need to hire a new sporting director and manager.

With 49ers having yet to agree a deal for a full buyout, there is a worry that Leeds will be left behind with current majority shareholder Andrea Radrizzani having completed his takeover of Sampdoria on Tuesday.

However, Leeds are desperate to ensure that is not the case and as such, Kinnear is the man tasked with putting the building blocks in place.

A host of names have already been linked with the managerial role at Leeds, including Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers, who would represent significant coups.

Sam Allardyce is also seemingly keen to stay beyond his initial interim period, while Steven Gerrard and Carlos Corberan have too been mentioned.

On the appointment of a manger, Cross wrote: “Once that is in place, the hope is everything else falls into place swiftly. Angus Kinnear has already been in dialogue with prospective head coaches.

“The hope is verbal agreements can be made so that when the club knows who is signing the cheques they can move forward on those agreements.”

It is good to hear Leeds are not sitting on their hands and waiting around for takeover news, particularly when you consider fellow relegated side Southampton are already motoring ahead.

While Kinnear may not be a wholly popular figure at Leeds, he would go some way to building a rapport back up with supporters if he is able to nail this managerial appointment early.

Once the 49ers’ takeover is eventually done, there could well be a flurry of news.
