TeamTalk report that Vincent Kompany has made the first move to sign Southampton striker Che Adams at Burnley this summer, ahead of Leeds United and Everton – with the Scotland star likely to be a target for a number of clubs.

Adams, 26, is likely to be one of a number of players that leaves Southampton this summer – as is the way when a club is relegated. His deal ends in June 2024, but Adams has shown he is good enough to remain at in the top tier.

He has had a hand in 46 goals in his 145 Southampton games, 39 goal goals and assists in his 124 Premier League. So, the Scotland star is likely to be on the move. TalkSPORT reported Leeds and Everton were keeping tabs on him.

A player that Victor Orta has admitted he has tried to sign in 2020. But now, Kompany has made the first move to get Adams this summer, identifying him as first choice. Adams is said to be keen, and a bid is likely to come soon.

Adams is underrated. Not one to look for a regular source of goals, but more than capable of scoring one every three or four games – but also, able to create. Versatile, physical, and willing to run the channels. He is a top player.

If Leeds could get Adams in the Championship, it would be a wonderful addition. But, unlikely. Adams has had a taste of top-tier football and has shown that he is good enough at that level. Burnley would be a smart move for him.

But, if he struggles to start for Burnley under Kompany and is not given the assurances he will do so – then Leeds really need to consider a move from Southampton. He would be the ideal striker signing to bolster our instant push.
