The Mail have claimed in Tuesday’s paper edition (30/05, p66) that Graham Potter and Carlos Corberan are options that Leeds United could pursue to take over from Sam Allardyce ahead of the start of the 2023-24 promotion push.
Allardyce was contracted at Leeds for the remaining four Premier League fixtures and while he is set for talks over his future, it is deemed unlikely that the club are going to hand him a longer spell. There is going to be huge change.
The club need to sort out a takeover. Does Andrea Radrizzani remain in order to sell for Premier League prices if Leeds secure an instant return? Does he simply sell a stake – or does he accept a full sale to the 49ers Enterprises?
When that is decided, the club can think about a new sporting director to replace Victor Orta – and hire a manager. So, there is plenty to do especially, in a summer where Leeds are likely to sell numerous players, and bring more in.
The report says Leeds have identified two options. Potter is one, after managing Chelsea in the Champions League – but Leeds face stiff competition from another relegated side in Leicester. The other is West Brom’s Carlos Corberan.

Graham Potter and Carlos Corberan are options Leeds could pursue
Of course, Corberan worked as Leeds 21’s manager for a while and on Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team coaching staff. He has experience in the Championship, guiding Huddersfield to the play-off final, and improving West Brom this term.
Having rejected Leeds to sign a new West Brom deal following the sacking of Jesse Marsch, Corberan’s new deal does include a release clause – though it is unclear how much. So, it might be that Potter or Corberan join Leeds.
But before a new manager can be brought in, or even a sporting director, or any decisions made on players – the club need to sort out a takeover, or make a decision on said takeover. Communication from the club is required.
