Report shares what Leeds players think about Jesse Marsch’s future at the moment

MailPlus claim that the Leeds United squad are behind Jesse Marsch and want their American gaffer to make it work at Elland Road – despite going eight Premier League games without a win, and losing four league games on the bounce.

Marsch, 48, is under enormous pressure as Leeds manager. Having earned seven points from the first three games, Leeds have since won two out of a possible 24. Next up, Liverpool at Anfield. The sack could be looking for Marsch.

But reports state that the Leeds board remain committed to Marsch – and even held a meeting on Sunday to work out how to help him. That feeling is portrayed among the Leeds players, according to a report from MailPlus’ Ian Ladyman.

It is believed there is a “desire” among Leeds players to make it work under the ex-Leipzig manager. There is also a preference for Marsch, compared to Marcelo Bielsa. Players were physically drained towards the end of Bielsa’s reign.

“Among his players, there is a desire for Marsch to do well,” Ladyman writes. “Under Bielsa, many of the squad were too physically exhausted to play effectively for him anymore by the time the end arrived.

“Marsch is completely different, a modern manager who believes inclusivity and communication are keys to moving a team forwards. Players are no longer weighed obsessively. They are allowed a life,” Ladyman continued.

There has been a handful of differences between Marsch and Bielsa. But it does seem as though players got a bit fed up of the Argentine’s demands towards the end of his era. Physically, emotionally drained from the hours put in.

While there is huge respect from taking Championship players and turning them into Premier League stars, Marsch was much-needed. A manager that gives them time off, a manager that allows them to spend time with families.

The performance at Fulham was poor – but it was a side that were working hard, playing for their manager. Proven by the late goal. Ultimately, it is tactics and a lack of confidence that is affecting Leeds at the moment.
