Everton are interested in a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Joel Robles as Sean Dyche looks to provide more competition for Jordan Pickford.

That is according to a surprise report from The Sun, which suggests that Joel Robles could be offered the chance to return to Goodison Park in the summer transfer window.

Joel seems to be one player that a lot of Leeds fans would like to keep for the coming season. The Spaniard arrived as cover for Illan Meslier on a one-year deal last summer. At the time, Jesse Marsch suggested that it was a ‘fantastic‘ move from the club.

He came in for the final four games of the campaign as Meslier struggled desperately for form. And he went on to do a decent job. Certainly, Joel did very little wrong while Leeds were relegated without much of a fight.

With Meslier potentially moving on, Joel – if he stays – is surely in contention to Leeds’ number one at the start of next season. But perhaps he may receive the chance to stay in the top-flight.

According to The Sun, Dyche is keen to bring Joel back to Everton. It is suggested that he wants to bring the Spaniard in to provide competition for the first-choice on Merseyside.

It is noted that Asmir Begovic is leaving the club. So the Toffees certainly do need to add to their ranks before the new season.

Joel did not have the best time at Everton previously. So it is unlikely to be a move that the fans are particularly happy about.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see what Joel would make of such an opportunity if Everton did make a move. If Leeds suggest that he could be in contention for the number one spot, he may have a tricky decision.
