TMW claim Pascal Struijk signing a new Leeds United contract in December will not deter interested parties from making a move for the left-footed defender this summer – with Premier League clubs said to be considering moves.
Struijk, 23, signed a new deal at Leeds towards the end of last year – putting pen to paper on a deal until June 2027. It comes after impressing in the first half of the season at left-back, even making the preliminary Netherlands squad.
But his form dipped in the second half of the season after signing a new contract. Danny Murphy said that he was “destroyed” in the 6-1 loss to Liverpool, and that he should not play again. Junior Firpo came into the starting side.
TMW claims that Premier League clubs could begin to show interest in the former Ajax academy player and despite signing a new Leeds deal – relegation means clubs are ready to make their move. It is unclear which clubs want him.

Struijk is not first choice but with Firpo likely to have interest from La Liga clubs this summer – it is worth keeping him at Elland Road. He offers cover in numerous positions and in the second tier, that is key in a promotion chase.
With the second-tier campaign promising a season that could be north of 50 matches in league and cup, the Whites need a decent-sized squad. A number of players are likely to go. Keeping versatile players like Struijk makes sense.
In the Championship, he is good enough for Leeds and it might be that relegation actually suits Struijk. It might help him gain some confidence and play more regularly for the Whites, perhaps in his preferred position of centre-back.
