Italian outlet Roma Giallorossa claim that Roma are unwilling to pay the full £15.5million permanent clause included in their loan deal for Leeds United man Diego Llorente – and want a discount that could be as much as £7million.
Llorente, 29, has been out on loan at Roma for the second half of the season. He joined the Serie A giants in the final couple of days in the January window, only a month after penning a new Elland Road contract until June 2026.
Struggling to get into the Roma side to begin with despite reuniting with Jose Mourinho – the man that gave him his professional debut, while at Real Madrid – Llorente broke in largely thanks to a number of injuries and suspensions.
He ended the loan with 12 games to his name for the Serie A side, coming on as a sub in the Europa League final against Sevilla – losing on penalties. Mourinho is impressed with Llorente’s ‘professionalism’ during his loan spell.
The report states that Roma are unwilling to pay the £15.5million fee that was included in the initial loan deal six months ago. However, they do want to buy him – but for a fee between £8.5million and £9.5million this summer.

That means Roma could save between £6million and £7million on the initially agreed permanent clause. Indeed, the Italians are clearly trying to take advantage of the fact that Leeds have gone down. Well within their rights to do so.
Even if it is a reduction on the fee Leeds might have raked in if still in the Premier League, it is still a lump of cash that we should rake in. Llorente has failed at Leeds and his future is no longer here. Anything above £8m is decent.
