Report: Leeds yet to receive interest in 19-year-old despite PL club links

Leeds United have not received any interest or offers for attacker Wilfried Gnonto this summer.

That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who report while Everton are among a host of Premier League clubs to have been linked with Gnonto, there has been nothing concrete as of yet.

In fact, at this stage it is quite the opposite, with San Francisco 49ers Enterprises viewing him as a key player ahead of the new season, where Leeds will be pushing for an immediate promotion.

Gnonto has also been mentioned as a target for Crystal Palace, West Ham and Brighton, with his first season in England establishing himself as one of the country’s top talents.

The 19-year-old is currently away on international duty at the U21s EUROs with Italy, scoring in a 3-2 win over Switzerland on Sunday in their second group match.

There have also been reports from his native homeland that Fiorentina and Sassuolo are keen on Gnonto this summer, but it is difficult to see either of them being able to afford the price tag.

Gnonto has four years left to run on his contract at Leeds and there is yet to be a mention of any release clause in his contract after relegation.

That would put Leeds in an excellent position to keep him, particularly with a host of other players likely to move on, even if it is only on loan.

Keeping Gnonto would send a huge statement of intent to the rest of the division, with his talent clearly way beyond that of the Championship.

If Leeds can field him in an attack alongside at least two from the likes of Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, they will already be in a strong position.
