The Athletic claim Leeds United will listen to offers for Tyler Roberts this summer after a disappointing loan spell at Championship side QPR in which he sustained a number of injuries. The Wales star sees his contract end in 2024.
Roberts, 24, was sent on a season-long loan to QPR after suffering an injury in his first game under Jesse Marsch, the 1-0 loss to Leicester. The thought process was two-fold. The first, to get him playing and restore his confidence.
The second, to get him in the Wales squad for the World Cup in Qatar. Such was the disastrous nature of the loan at QPR, Roberts achieved neither. He now returns to Leeds, where he finds himself in the final years of his Leeds deal.
Bought for £4m in January 2018, the ex-West Brom man has played just 108 times in more than five years for Leeds – scoring only nine goals. The Athletic states that Leeds will listen to offers for 20-time Wales star this summer.
“It got toxic for Roberts at Leeds, hence his season-long loan to Queens Park Rangers of the Championship. The club will field bids for the 24-year-old Wales international again,” Phil Hay writes, in his latest piece on The Athletic.

There is no room for Roberts. He has been given plenty of chances but injury, a lack of momentum and indeed form, has meant he has been unable to live up to the hype and potential that saw Leeds bring him to the club in 2018.
Even with Leeds potentially selling attacking players such as Rodrigo, Brenden Aaronson, Jack Harrison and more this summer – Roberts needs to leave Leeds for the good of his career. It will be interesting to see who wants him.
