FLW claim Leeds United want Swansea City left-back Ryan Manning on a free transfer at the end of the season – with the report saying the Whites are eyeing a move regardless what division we end up in, following Tottenham.

Ireland international Manning, 26, has been in stunning form. Clocking up 46 appearances on the left flank this term, Manning has had a hand in 15 goals. Scoring five, he laid on 10 – winning Swansea’s Player of the Season award.

But Swansea have also confirmed that Manning will be one of a number of players to leave the club at the end of June, when his deal ends. Given his form, it is likely to have a whole host of English clubs after Manning’s signature.

Premier League interest is likely to surface, but FLW state that Leeds are interested – whether the club are in the top tier, or in the Championship. With Junior Firpo’s time at Leeds a struggle to say the least, Manning could come in.

Leeds want Swansea City left-back Ryan Manning on a free transfer

Manning seems like a solid, sensible signing. Still only 26, but a player with caps for his country and available for nothing, he is ready for the step up to the Premier League. Leeds might not be able to offer Manning that next term.

But what they will be, is one of the favourites to win the 2023-24 campaign in the Championship – if we do go down. Manning will surely be tempted by a move to Elland Road, judging by the others in the race to sign the Irish star.

Described as “brilliant” and “Mr Consistency” by his manager Russell Martin this season, plenty of clubs will be in for Manning but if Leeds can get a deal done early – it is smart business. If true, the best way to start the summer.
