The Sun claim that Leeds United transfer target Viktor Gyokeres has changed his agent ahead of the summer with a potential move on the cards – but that West Ham are leading the race to land the Sweden striker from Coventry City.
Gyokeres, 24, has been in phenomenal form once again for Coventry, in what is his second full season with the club. Last season, he scored 18 and created 5. This term, he has 19 goals and eight assists – with seven games left to go.
Coventry sit in a solid position of eighth place, just four points off the play-offs. But, a heavy 4-0 home loss to Stoke on Saturday has hampered their chances. If Coventry fail to make the top six, then it is likely that Gyokeres is sold.
His contract at Coventry runs out in June 2024, and the Championship side will be keen to get a big fee for their star striker. TeamTalk recently reported that he is a £25m target for Leeds – whether Leeds stay up, or suffer relegation.
Leeds target Gyokeres changes agent but West Ham leading race
Gyokeres is seemingly preparing to move clubs in the coming months, swapping his agent. He is now represented by Hasan Cetinkaya, who also looks after Frenkie de Jong, Noa Lang and Donny van de Beek, as per TransferMarkt.
But, the report also claims that West Ham are leading the race to sign Gyokeres in the summer. The Hammers are likely to lose Michail Antonio, while Gianluca Scamacca – who has also changed agents – may force a move away.
So, it looks as if Gyokeres is on the move and clearly, he has chosen an agent that Leeds will have dealt with in the recent past – given the interest in Lang. But, West Ham are on pole and possibly better positioned to sign the star.
