Football League World report that Rangers have seen a bid rejected to lure Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell to Ibrox this summer, with Michael Beale looking to dip into the Championship once again to strengthen his team.
Cresswell, 20, is currently preparing to represent England’s U21 side at this summer’s European Championships. It comes after starring for Millwall in the Championship on loan last term, scoring five goals in 30 games for the Lions.
He returns to Leeds where he finds himself with a year left on his current deal. Graham Smyth recently reported that he has a release clause. The Sun said Leeds were open to an exit worth £4m in January, with Middlesbrough keen.
But, Leeds Live report that Angus Kinnear is including him in our senior plans for 2023-24. If Cresswell is to remain, then he will have surely received assurances from the Leeds board that he is going to be a key player for the club.
The report states that Leeds have now made good on those reports. That is because Rangers, who find themselves in the Champions League qualifying stages, have made a move for Cresswell. But, Leeds have rejected that bid.

It is hardly surprising to see interest emerge for Cresswell. A player that is in the final year of his contract, has an exit clause, but also, a player with huge potential at 20. He proved as much at Millwall while on loan last season.
Leeds have made the right decision to reject any bids for the defender. A serious talent and with Robin Koch and Diego Llorente likely to leave, Cresswell is emerging at the right-time as the ideal right-footed central defender.
