Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim Willy Gnonto could leave for “a bargain” fee if Leeds United are relegated this season and the player “decides to leave” Elland Road. Serie A clubs are more than likely to be keen on Gnonto.
The 19-year-old has starred for Leeds this term. Instantly becoming a fan favourite, the Italy star has played 25 times for the first XI, having a hand in eight goals. He netted at Old Trafford, and a Paolo Di Canio-like scissor kick.
But with relegation looking more and more likely at the end of the season, Gnonto is likely to headline a number of Leeds players that depart – if we do fail to stay up. His name has been linked with a number of big European clubs.
The report lists a number of players that could leave the Premier League clubs in the relegation dog fight. They claim Gnonto is one and bought for a fee of £13m including bonuses – that he could go for a bargain fee if he goes.

A number of reports suggest that Gnonto could have gone for a fee north of £40m, if Leeds remained in the top tier. Indeed, if Leeds did stay up, you would imagine Gnonto might want to stay to continue establishing himself.
But with relegation, he is more than likely to go – and for a reduced fee. So, what is the realistic fee Leeds can sell Gnonto for if the club are relegated? Surely, Leeds still need to be looking at a figure north of £25m for the Italian.
Leeds will need to sell some of their big assets, even with the parachute payments and right now, there are not many bigger than Gnonto. Illan Meslier’s value has dropped, Tyler Adams has injured. All eyes on Saturday.
