The Yorkshire Evening Post say Tyler Roberts is ‘expected’ to complete a permanent move from Leeds United to London club QPR this summer where he remains on loan – but only on one condition, and that is that QPR stay up.
QPR are in the midst of a dismal run of form that has seen them win just one of their last 18 Championship fixtures. They started the season in superb fashion under Michael Beale – but he left the club to join Rangers, having sat top.
A dismal spell under Neil Critchley saw Gareth Ainsworth move to QPR – tasked with saving them from the drop. They are still yet to win since a 1-0 victory over Watford in December. They drew with West Brom on the weekend.
Roberts, meanwhile, has been out for the best part of three months. It comes after missing two months earlier in the season. He returned to Leeds, but is now back in QPR training. Ainsworth says he could be picked this weekend.
Roberts expected to complete move from Leeds to QPR on one condition
Roberts, who Leeds bought for £4m in January 2018 and has since played 108 times for the club, has scored four goals in 20 games for QPR. The YEP gave an update on his future and a potential permanent move this summer.
Indeed, the YEP say that he is expected to complete a permanent move to QPR this summer. His contract at Leeds is due to expire at the end of next season. But, the move hinges on one condition – and that is survival this season.
QPR currently sit in 20th place. But given their downturn in form, it will be a worry that the London side might find themselves in League One next season. If that is the case, Roberts is likely to be on the lookout for a new club.
