Football League World claim that Leeds United are interested in an ‘ambitious’ move for Coventry City playmaker Gustavo Hamer after a wonderful 2022-23 campaign – with the midfielder entering the final year of his contract.
Hamer, 25, has spent the last three years at Coventry – but last season was by far and away his best campaign. He clocked up 21 goal involvements in 45 games for Mark Robins’ side last term. He scored 11 goals, creating 10 more.
The Brazil-born star – who has three Netherlands U20 caps – was arguably one of the Championship’s best players last term. He helped Coventry reach the play-off final, scoring the winner in the semi-finals and netting in the final.
Leeds are said to be plotting what is considered an ambitious move for the no.38. It is deemed ambitious given that Hamer may prefer to pick a side that is not in the second tier, with European and Premier League clubs interested.

Leeds interested in ambitious move for Coventry City playmaker Hamer
Hamer would be a wonderful signing. He has already shown in the Championship that he deserves to be in the Premier League. But as the report says, if there are Premier League clubs interested, it will be tough to get him.
It might be that Leeds offer the midfielder the type of assurances that tempt him to stay another year in the second tier – than go and play a bit-part role at a Premier League club. It remains to be seen which clubs are also interested.
But there is no doubt, that with Brenden Aaronson possibly leaving and Leeds really lacking another no.10 other than Sam Greenwood, signing Hamer would be a superb bit of business. How much the 49ers will spend is unclear.
