Leeds United are not just stepping up their push to bring Georginio Rutter to Elland Road, with Foot Mercato in France reporting that the Whites made a bid for Azzedine Ounahi a few days ago.

Rutter appears to be closing in on becoming one of the most expensive signings in Leeds history. Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter on Sunday that the Whites had agreed personal terms with the Hoffenheim forward. Meanwhile, talks are underway over a £26.5 million move.

And it seems that Rutter is not the only player Leeds are bidding for. Foot Mercato reports that Leeds are also big admirers of Ounahi.

Leeds have made bid for Ounahi

The Morocco international was one of the revelations of the World Cup, helping his country reach the semi-final in Qatar.

There is plenty of interest in the 22-year-old. Reports from La Repubblica earlier this week claimed that Tottenham are in talks to sign the £31 million-rated midfielder.

But it would appear that Leeds are in the race. Foot Mercato’s report claims that the Whites have recently made a bid of their own for the ‘incredible‘ Angers youngster.

It would be absolutely stunning if Leeds did indeed make a serious move for Ounahi. Certainly, any criticism of the board would largely be put to bed if Jesse Marsch ended the window with Max Wober, Ounahi and Rutter in his ranks.

Of course, it is hard to see Leeds winning the race, given the valuations of both Rutter and Ounahi. We are probably getting a little carried away by the reports. But it is hugely exciting that we appear to be in the conversation.

Hopefully, the ball now gets rolling with the same pace which has seemingly taken Rutter to the brink of moving to Elland Road.
