The Mail claim Leeds United are one of four English clubs to have checked on AZ Alkmaar left-back Milos Kerkez over the past 12 months – as Bournemouth, Newcastle and Leicester also eye a move for the £20m-rated flyer.
Kerkez, 19, has impressed at Alkmaar since joining the club in January 2022 from Milan. He played just five times for Alkmaar during the second half of 2021-22. But last season, he was superb – clocking up a huge 53 appearances.
Helping Alkmaar reach the Conference League semi-finals before losing to West Ham, the eight-time Hungary star had a hand in 12 goals – scoring five and laying on seven assists from the left side of defence. Interest is growing.
Compared to Gareth Bale, Kerkez could now be on his way to England. The Mail report that Leeds have completed checks on the defender in the past 12 months – but is rated at £20m. Bournemouth, Newcastle and Leicester, too.

One that Leeds might have done, if we were in the Premier League. But now, in the Championship – and while the need for a left-back remains – Kerkez seems out of our reach. He is more than likely to join a Premier League side.
Largely, because of his form in Europe – which has bumped up his asking price. Kerkez has a decision to make, and it is likely to be between Newcastle or Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth. First choice at the Vitality, or Toon back-up.
The latter offer Champions League football, with Dan Burn currently first choice. But the Cherries are leading the way, even with AZ requesting a huge figure, given his age. One to watch, but Daniel Farke’s Leeds look unlikely.
