The YEP report that Leeds United wonderkid Crysencio Summerville was forced to miss a sizable portion of our second training session in Valencia on Monday – after suffering a knock to his ankle, following a tackle from Marc Roca.
Summerville, 21, would not have wanted the World Cup break to come around. He scored in each of the four Premier League games ahead of the break. That included winners against Liverpool and Bournemouth. Then, against Spurs.
The Netherlands Under-21 international now has 20 senior appearances for Leeds and fans are incredibly excited about him. Wearing the no.10 shirt, his confidence is brimming. If Leeds are to stand a chance against Man City, he is needed.
So, a worrying blow emerged from Valencia on Monday. Graham Smyth reports from Valencia on the YEP website that after a tackle on his ankle from Spanish midfielder Roca, Summerville sat out the rest of session as a ‘precaution’.

Leeds desperately need him. In terms of players in form, he is right up there. The same bracket as Illan Meslier, Pascal Struijk, Tyler Adams and top scorer Rodrigo. Pep Guardiola’s side are next, on December 28, the first game back.
A tall order. But Leeds will be buoyed by the fact that only three of the squad went to the World Cup in Qatar. All of which, have now been knocked out. Of City’s current squad, 16 are at the World Cup. It may be a tired City on the 28th.
But if Leeds are to have any chance of an upset, and replicating the kind of result that saw Stuart Dallas score twice to win 2-1, Summerville needs to be fit. Hopefully, as Smyth says, it is only a knock and he will be back in action soon.
