Leeds United are looking to return to the ‘intensity and fitness levels’ witnessed during Marcelo Bielsa’s time at the club in their search for a new boss.
That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who report the club are looking to find a manager who can excite the fans once again with an ‘aggressive’ brand of football.
Throughout Bielsa’s time at the club, Leeds were regarded as one of the best sides to watch in the country, so much so they became a number of people’s ‘second team’ when football was played behind-closed-doors.
Having seemingly found a real identity under Bielsa, that has all been lost in the last 18 months since his sacking, with Jesse Marsch all but destroying the Argentine’s imprint on the team.
Marsch’s appointment was the beginning of a series of poor decisions that has led to Leeds‘ relegation and they are now looking to get back to their old ways.
Leeds want return to Bielsa style
It is incredibly frustrating how Leeds have managed to blow the incredible legacy Bielsa worked so hard to build in such a short period of time.
That said, it is nice to hear Leeds are looking for a manager who can excite the fans once again, and some of the names to have been linked with the role certainly reflect that.
Both Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers would represent significant coups if they are able to prise them to the Championship, while Carlos Corberan and Regis Le Bris also appear to be decent options.
If they are able to get this appointment right, Leeds more than have the capacity to build a side capable of an immediate return to the Premier League.
Clarity will undoubtedly need providing on the ownership situation first, though, or they can kiss goodbye to anyone with a decent track record wanting to come.
