Leeds United are hopeful they can provide clarity on whether San Francisco 49ers Enterprises will proceed with a full buyout imminently.
That is according to the Daily Telegraph, who report an announcement could arrive shortly after the weekend amid weeks of uncertainty surrounding the situation.
49ers had originally agreed a deal for a full buyout from Andrea Radrizzani for this summer in the event Leeds were able to secure Premier League football.
However, after Leeds were relegated on Sunday, new talks have been held over a fresh agreement, which could cost Radrizzani £270 million.
After Radrizzani’s purchase of Sampdoria earlier this week, he had looked almost certain to be departing Elland Road, though a statement on Wednesday seemingly reaffirmed his commitment to the club.
Leeds hoping for clarity imminently
According to the Athletic, there have been tensions behind the scenes between the 49ers and Radrizzani this week, after the latter attempted to use Elland Road as collateral in securing a £26 million bank loan in his takeover of Sampdoria.
This was done behind the back of everyone at boardroom level at Leeds, including managing director Angus Kinnear, who has worked alongside Radrizzani ever since his initial takeover in 2017.
However, this simply has to be put to one side swiftly or Leeds could be in for an extremely rocky summer.
One way or another the takeover situation needs clarity and it is good to hear that the club are looking to provide one in the coming days.
Once this arrives, Leeds will be able to push the buttons on a new manager, sporting director, and squad overhaul, with a mass exodus expected.
