Report: Leeds could be eyeing £18m West Brom man, as relegated PL sides eye star

The Express & Star claim Leeds United could be interested in a move for West Brom attacker Grady Diangana this summer, with the report claiming relegated Premier League sides want to land Carlos Corberan’s fleet-footed ace.

Diangana, 25, is a player that could be sold by the Baggies this summer. Corberan’s side need to sell in order to bring some cash into the club’s coffers. Diangana, who cost £18m from West Ham in 2020, could be one they sell.

The winger has failed to live up to the hype, and the price tag, since his move to The Hawthorns. In his 129 games for West Brom, in the Premier League and the Championship, Diangana has managed just 26 goals and assists.

But, there is clearly a player in Diangana, if given the right platform. The Express & Star state Diangana does have interest in him, from Championship teams – including, relegated Premier League clubs. Leeds may be one of those.

“Several Championship clubs are keeping tabs on Diangana. Albion will not be forced to sell on the cheap. It is understood top-end Championship clubs, including relegated Premier League sides, are monitoring the winger.”

Leeds will need wingers. Willy Gnonto, Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra are all expected to leave Leeds in the coming weeks. Crysencio Summerville has plenty of admirers, too. Dan James has returned to Elland Road.

But, Leeds will need to bring in one or two options out wide to compliment James – with two or three of the four options from last season likely to be sold. Diangana would be a very solid replacement, but it depends on price.

If West Brom want anything like the figure they paid West Ham three years ago, then a deal can be forgotten about. But if the Baggies are willing to perhaps half that fee, then Leeds should be interested. Talks need to be held.
