Italian website SampNews.24 claim that Leeds United are one of three clubs taking a look at Morocco star Abdelhamid Sabiri ahead of the January transfer window – after his stunning exploits at the World Cup in Qatar this winter.
Sabiri, 26, only joined Sampdoria in the summer. The attacking midfielder was a bargain buy for Sampdoria from fellow Italian side Ascoli – after initially joining the club on loan in January. He has had a hand in eight goals during 27 games.
That form was enough to see him called up to the Morocco squad for the World Cup. A six-time Morocco star, four of his caps have come in Morocco’s four World Cup games – coming on as a sub three times, starting against Canada.
But already, he is being linked with another move. Indeed, Leeds are one of three Premier League clubs said to be keen on Sabiri – the other two unnamed. Real Betis want to take him to Spain, while Lyon are interested in signing him, too.

Leeds taking a look at Morocco star Sabiri, five clubs keen
He has made his mark in Qatar. Coming off the bench against Belgium, he laid on an assist in a shock 2-0 win. He will surely win his seventh cap against Portugal on Saturday. Whether that be from the start, or on the bench for Morocco.
Sabiri has a contract at Sampdoria until the summer of 2025, but the report states the Serie A side are willing to sell. That is, if offers of £9million are tabled. With Sam Greenwood covering those in central midfield, Leeds need a 10.
Someone to cover USA international Brenden Aaronson, who has been a regular but does require cover at points. Sabiri would do that, while also offering ability from the flanks. He is also capable of playing deeper in midfield.
