It has been a difficult season for Leeds United star Luis Sinisterra with numerous injuries hindering his first year in English football – but according to CalcioMercato, it has not stopped other Premier League sides being interested.

The 23-year-old joined Leeds for a fee of £21m from Feyenoord last summer – after scoring an impressive 23 goals and helping Arne Slot’s side reach the Europa Conference League final. He was seen as a replacement for Raphinha.

But since, injuries have ravaged his progression. It started with a hamstring issue picked up against Crystal Palace in pre-season in Australia. A foot injury, and then an injury after scoring against Leicester during the recent 1-1 draw.

Nevertheless, the Colombia star has still scored seven goals in 22 games – five of which have come in the Premier League, and three in his last five outings. CM say that a number of top English clubs are interested in Sinisterra.

It comes down to this. If Leeds stay up, we really need to keep Sinisterra and allow him to enjoy a season at Elland Road without any injuries. If so, you would expect him to go on and score double digits – given his seven this term.

But if we do go down, then there are going to plenty of clubs looking to sign the South American speed machine. There will be little we can do to stop his inevitable exit. As things stand, the latter looks very much more likely.

A lot more will be explained come Saturday, when Newcastle visit. Avoiding defeat is paramount and really, Leeds need to go and win the match – after Everton and Forest won last time out. A big ask, but right now, it is needed.
