Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, nicknamed Bono, is the latest player to be linked with a move to Leeds United. Moroccan outlet Lions De L’Atlas report that Leeds are battling West Ham for the Sevilla and Morocco goalkeeper.
Bono, 32, has been a regular in European football – starring for Sevilla over the last three years. Indeed, he has 57 clean sheets in 131 games for the La Liga outfit. But it was his form at the World Cup in Qatar that caught the eye.
He was crucial in helping Morocco reach the semi-finals – way beyond expectation. He played in six of his country’s seven games, missing the 2-0 win over Belgium in the group stages. But he returned to stop Spain on penalties.
Returning to Sevilla, Bono finds his future in doubt. His contract ends in 2024, and if a new deal cannot be agreed, then Bono may be sold this summer. The report claims Leeds, West Ham, AC Milan and AS Roma all want Bono.

The left-footed star would be an impressive addition. But, a move would hinge on two things. The first being that Leeds remain in the Premier League – which looks harder after Sunday’s dismal 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
The second, is that Leeds decide to sell Illan Meslier – or a big club comes in for the Frenchman. Meslier has been the centre of criticism since the 5-1 loss – but he has plenty of admirers. Bono would be a very solid replacement.
But, Leeds do not offer European football. Milan are likely to want him as back-up to Mike Maignan, while Roma may be his best bet. To work under Jose Mourinho and start, for a club potentially qualifying for the Champions League.
