Italian outlet Roma Today report that Leeds United and Jose Mourinho’s Roma have agreed a move that will see Rasmus Kristensen join the Serie A club on loan, including an option for Roma to buy him worth around £8.5m.
Kristensen, 25, endured a difficult first season at Leeds. Joining from Salzburg, the Denmark star was seen as the long-term replacement for Luke Ayling. But after a poor run of form, Ayling overtook Kristensen into the Leeds side.
It saw Kristensen change positions, playing in midfield against Arsenal – and then in the middle of the defence under Sam Allardyce. Following relegation, reports suggested that Kristensen would be remaining at Leeds this summer.
But, reports emerged over the weekend that said Roma were closing in on a move to sign Kristensen. The latest report now says that Kristensen, Leeds and Roma have agreed a loan-to-buy deal – with an option worth £8.5m.
Leeds of course, signed Kristensen for a fee of £10m, last summer. So, it might be that Leeds are actually breaking even on the right-back – if Roma are paying a loan fee, and his wages for 23-24. It could be a whole lot worse for us.

Letting Kristensen go makes sense. Because, it allows Cody Drameh to break into the side. Leeds desperately need to keep Drameh – who has starred in the Championship over the last two years, on loan at Cardiff and Luton Town.
Keeping Luke Ayling is also key. He is a player that is crucial off and on the pitch to Leeds, boasts huge know how in the second tier, and promotion. Drameh first choice, Ayling next and then, selling Kristensen is Leeds’ best move.
