Sport Italia claim in an exclusive that Leeds United have accepted an offer of £18.8m from Everton for Willy Gnonto, and the winger is now ‘very close’ to completing a move to Goodison Park – with Aston Villa yet to make their move.
Gnonto, 19, has been linked with about half of the Premier League, and even more of Italy’s top flight since we were relegated last season. But a move has been made to wait, with Gnonto representing Italy’s senior and U21 sides.
The winger is due to report back to Thorp Arch next week, having been granted another week off – alongside the likes of Illan Meslier, Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville. But the latest report suggests he might not return at all.

Indeed, Sport Italia claimed in the early hours of Tuesday morning that Leeds have accepted an offer of £18.8m for Gnonto – from last season’s relegation rivals Everton. It is said he will now leave for Everton. A deal is ‘very close’.
The report also says that Aston Villa are interested in Gnonto, but are yet to match Everton’s move for the ex-Inter Milan speedster. It remains to be seen if Leeds have actually decided to sell Gnonto to one of last season’s rivals.
Leeds accept £18.8m Everton offer for Gnonto: Villa yet to make move

The report does not state whether Gnonto is interested in a move to Merseyside, and whether personal terms are close to being agreed. But Leeds have set themselves an asking price for Gnonto, and Everton are willing to pay it.
It is a shame that it is Everton. A team that have been in and around Leeds for the last two years. It is also a bit of a surprise to see Gnonto – if true – join a team likely to be in a relegation battle. But, it sees him stay in the top flight.
