A report from iNews claims that Victor Orta is ‘vulnerable’ at Leeds United if the club suffer relegation come the end of the season – with the Whites sitting in 17th place and only a point above the drop zone. Orta has come in for criticism.

It comes just a few months after the Evening Standard reported that Chelsea were considering a move to bring Orta to the Capital. Orta has overseen the rise of Leeds from mid-table obscurity in the Championship, back into the top tier.

There has been praise in the way of Orta. The hiring of Marcelo Bielsa, and the process of actually getting him to Leeds. Signings such as Raphinha, Illan Meslier, Willy Gnonto and others have proven to be huge signings for the Whites.

But criticism has come his way in his passionate messages from the directors box, often clashing with fans. His hiring of Jesse Marsch which has left Leeds in this position. The sacking of Bielsa – although, that was mainly Andrea Radrizzani.

So, not long after being on Chelsea’s list, Orta is being threatened with the exit door at Leeds. The imminent £500m takeover at Leeds could place his position under question – but relegation even more so. He is apparently ‘vulnerable’.

Perhaps, it is the right time regardless of what division Leeds find themselves in come the summer. Orta has spent the last six years at the club after moving to Elland Road from Middlesbrough. Maybe it is time to freshen things up.

Leeds have the tools to survive relegation and if the 49ers takeover does go through, they will hardly want to rip up the system in place and overhaul everything. But, the odd change here or there is needed – and Orta could be one.
