Football website 90Min claim Kalvin Phillips is keen to leave Manchester City with the midfielder concerned over his lack of game time hampering his chances at England level – amid reports that Leeds United are keen on a return.
Phillips, 27, is yet to start in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola’s side since joining he club for an initial £42m plus £3m in add-ons. With that money, Leeds replaced him in midfield with Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi.
Indeed, Phillips has only played 13 times in all competitions for City – but did complete 90 minutes for England last week in an excellent 2-1 away win over Italy in Naples. He did not feature in the 2-0 win over Ukraine at Wembley.
So, where does Phillips turn next? Well, it is unlikely he gets a run in the City side between now and the end of the season. 90Min say he wants to leave City in order to improve his chances of re-establishing himself at England level.
Of course, Phillips was crucial in the run to the Euro 2020 final – but warmed the bench in Qatar at the World Cup. The Daily Star reported over the weekend that Leeds and West Ham were keen, but would have to pay £42m.

Phillips ready to leave Manchester City amid reports Leeds are keen
Phillips is not going to get any joy at City while Rodri is at the club. Intermittent game time is not going to help his momentum, and he needs to join a club where he is first choice. Would he be that at Leeds, with Adams in midfield?
With Javi Gracia in place, you would imagine that a combination of Adams and Phillips could suit the boyhood Leeds star. The other question is, would Leeds be willing to pay the fee they received from City to sign him? Time will tell.
