Leeds United are not currently prioritising the signing of Swansea City striker Joel Piroe.
That is according to Wales Online, who report while Leeds have become the latest team to register an interest in Piroe, he is not their main focus at this stage.
As per the report, Leeds are instead said to be currently targeting the addition of a new wing-back, however at this stage it is unclear who that may be.
It doesn’t specify whether that will be on the left or right, though it is almost certainly set to be the former with Junior Firpo the only recognised option in that position, who is expected to leave.
Leo Hjelde, Pascal Struijk and Max Wober can all play there, but there is no doubt they are far more comfortable in the centre of defence.
Leeds not prioritising move for Piroe
In the same article published on Thursday afternoon, Wales Online revealed Piroe is set for crunch talks with Swansea in the next 24 hours.
One of the key topics of the conversation is Piroe’s asking price, with Swansea having commanded a £20 million fee 12 months ago to ward off potential suitors.
However, Piroe is out of contract in South Wales at the end of the season and has already made it clear he won’t be signing a new deal.
That means this summer is likely to be the last opportunity to bring in a decent fee, with Leeds, along with Leicester City and Atalanta interested.
Though not currently the main priority, Leeds may have to act quickly if they are to win the race for the 23-year-old.
