RAC 1 claim Victor Orta has offered his services to already-relegated La Liga side Espanyol ahead of the summer after his Leeds United exit – with current sporting director Domingo Catoira set to leave after a disastrous season.
Orta of course, departed Leeds after almost six years in his role at Leeds. The man who was responsible for the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa and the signings of players including Willy Gnonto, Raphinha, Illan Meslier and more.
But towards the end of his tenure, it turned toxic. Constant clashes with supporters and the succession plan after the decision to sack Bielsa saw Leeds go from ninth in the Premier League, to relegation. Three managers failed.
Jesse Marsch was backed to the hill, but it did not work. Javi Gracia failed. Sam Allardyce did not have the time. The time taken to bring in Gracia saw Leeds waste matches in the fight against the drop. Players signed have failed.

It all led to one inevitability and that was the exit of Orta. Now, he is searching for his next role. Seville have been linked, which would see Orta return to his old side. It appears he has offered his services to 19th-placed Espanyol.
Espanyol have endured a dismal season in La Liga’s top flight. Promoted back to La Liga in 2021, Espanyol finished their first campaign back with a solid 14th-placed finish. This season, after 15 signings, they have been relegated.
Like Orta at Leeds, Catoria has been the subject of blame. The report claims his ‘days are numbered’ at Espanyol and Orta is looking to take advantage, by offering his services as Espanyol look to plan an instant La Liga return.
