Football website 90Min claim Leeds United made an offer to re-sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City in the January window with the England midfielder struggling for game time since joining the Premier League champions.
Phillips, 27, has been used just 13 times in all competitions by Pep Guardiola since completing a £45million move to The Etihad. None of those have been from the start in the Premier League and his England place is now in doubt.
90Min claim that that is a reason why Phillips is considering an exit in the coming summer window, just a year after leaving Leeds to go to The Etihad. Phillips is likely to have a number of suitors after him, if he does want to leave.
The report from 90Min claims that actually, Leeds made an offer to lure the midfielder back to Elland Road and add to the 214 appearances he has clocked up for his boyhood club. He remains at City, but Leeds are still interested.

Clearly, there is still interest from Leeds in £160k-a-week Phillips. That could remain in the summer. Leeds do have options in the middle of the park – with Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Weston McKennie all signed since Phillips left.
Adams is one of our best players. Roca has been up and down but remains an important member of the side – while McKennie’s future is up in the air. He is on loan from Juventus. There is an agreement to sign him permanently.
A gentleman’s agreement – but that was done with Jesse Marsch in charge. He is an important member of the side and it is believed that if Leeds stay up, McKennie will be bought. Whether that will happen, is still up for debate.
So, perhaps it comes down to whether McKennie stays at the club and Leeds shell out the £34.3million to get him. If they choose not to do so, then the Leeds board may sanction a deal to bring Phillips back to Yorkshire this summer.
